The process

How to access bulk-billed appointments

Four straightforward steps to see us at no cost to you.

01

See your GP

Book a standard appointment with your doctor. Discuss any chronic condition you have - back pain, neck pain, sciatica, headaches and more may qualify.

02

Get a CDM referral

Ask your GP for a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, formerly called an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) plan. This covers up to 5 allied health visits per calendar year.

03

Book with us

Contact our Mooloolaba or Nambour clinic with your referral in hand. We'll get you an appointment - same-day slots often available.

04

Pay nothing

Present your CDM referral at your first visit. We bill Medicare directly - zero out-of-pocket cost for eligible appointments.

Who qualifies

Who is eligible for Medicare bulk billing?

Not everyone qualifies - your GP makes this determination based on your health situation. Generally, eligible patients will have:

A chronic health conditionLasting at least 6 months - back pain, neck pain, sciatica, headaches, vertigo and more may qualify
A GP who is willing to create a CDM planYour doctor prepares the plan and refers you to allied health - this needs to happen before your first visit with us
Visits remaining in the calendar yearMedicare covers up to 5 allied health visits per year, shared across all referred services (not 5 per provider)
Your referral in handWe need the CDM referral from your GP before your appointment - we cannot backdate it

Important to understand

Medicare CDM referrals cover up to 5 allied health visits per calendar year. Those 5 visits are shared across all allied health providers you're referred to - they're not 5 separate visits per provider.

For many chronic conditions, 5 sessions is a good start, not a complete course of treatment. Think of it as an opportunity to begin care and assess your response - most patients with long-standing conditions will benefit from ongoing visits beyond their plan.

After your 5 visits: You can continue as a private patient. HICAPS is available on-site for instant private health rebates. Many patients find ongoing private care is well worth it.

Common questions answered

Yes. Both our Mooloolaba and Nambour clinics bulk bill chiropractic for eligible patients who have a valid Medicare referral under a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan. You'll need that referral from your GP before your first appointment.

Yes - and this is what makes us different. We bulk bill Medicare EPC referrals for both chiropractic and physiotherapy. Most clinics only offer this for one service. You still need a CDM referral from your GP, and the 5-visit limit applies across all allied health providers combined.

Your GP decides if you're eligible. If you have a chronic condition, your doctor can prepare a Chronic Disease Management plan (formerly called an Enhanced Primary Care or EPC plan) and refer you for allied health, including chiropractic. Not everyone qualifies, so it's worth discussing with your GP.

Medicare covers up to 5 allied health visits per calendar year under a CDM plan. Importantly, this is 5 visits shared across all allied health services your GP refers you for - for example physiotherapy, podiatry and chiropractic - not 5 per provider.

For many chronic conditions, 5 sessions is a good start rather than a full course of care. Once your plan visits are used, you're welcome to continue as a private patient. If you have private health insurance with extras, you can usually claim on the spot via HICAPS. Call either clinic to discuss fees.

For bulk-billed visits, yes - you need a CDM referral from your GP before booking. Book a standard appointment with your doctor, discuss your chronic condition, and ask whether a Chronic Disease Management plan is right for you.

Absolutely. You don't need a referral to see us privately, and many patients book directly and claim through their private health fund. Call our Mooloolaba clinic on (07) 5478 2333 or Nambour on (07) 5441 4768 for current fees and availability.

Have a CDM referral? Book your bulk-billed appointment.

Once you have your GP referral, we'll book you in - same-day slots often available at both Mooloolaba and Nambour.
